The European Network for Smoking and Tobacco Prevention (ENSP)
The European Network for Smoking and Tobacco Prevention (ENSP) is an international non-profit making organisation, founded in 1997.
ENSP’s mission is to develop a strategy for co-ordinated action among organisations active in tobacco control in Europe by sharing information and experience and through co-ordinated activities and joint projects.
ENSP’s vision for the future is to eliminate the health inequalities among European citizens and their suffering caused by ill health and early death due to tobacco-related diseases.
Constantine Vardavas MD, RN, MPH, PhD is a medical epidemiologist specialized in research methods for tobacco control. Dr. Vardavas has been a leader in European Tobacco Control and spearheaded large multinational cross-country initiatives to combat the tobacco epidemic by using science to support FCTC implementation at an EU Member State level. Before returning to Europe to spearhead tobacco control activities Dr. Vardavas was a Senior Research Scientist of the Harvard School of Public Health, within the Center for Global Tobacco Control.
Cornel Radu-Loghin has a lengthy professional background in public health, having participated in many scientific research studies and co-authored a number of published papers and held membership positons on the FCA Board of Directors the FCA Executive Committee during his career.
He has been responsible for managing grass-root tobacco control organisations at country level, established a formal national structured coalition (the Romanian Network for Smoking Prevention), and proactively participated in the lobbying and advocating for FCTC ratification and implementation.
Dominick Nguyen has a professional background in Public Health, effectively managing major national social marketing campaigns in the field of Tobacco Control and a number of UK stop smoking services.
Within ENSP, Dominick is responsible for a number of joint EU projects, including the TackSHS project, in which he manages dissemination and activities related to external communications.
Christina Kyriakos, MPH is responsible for coordination and dissemination of EUREST-PLUS, and involved with other joint EU projects. Christina has experience managing research grants related to implementing tobacco use treatment guidelines in health care organizations through policies and system changes. Before joining ENSP, Christina worked at New York University (NYU) School of Medicine within the Department of Population Health, Section on Tobacco, Alcohol, and Drug Use.
